I read that DL app does not link like the WDW app does, the article was from 2022, is this still correct?

Hi Shawn! Thanks for dropping by planDisney.

The Disneyland mobile app functions slightly differently from the My Disney Experience app for the Walt Disney World Resort. If you're accustomed to one, it might take a little playing around in the other app to adjust, but much of it will be familiar to you. I've used both and the differences aren't substantial. But I always suggest you download the Disneyland mobile app ahead of your arrival, so you'll be ready to enjoy the magic as soon as you scan into the parks!

One difference is My Disney Experience has a "Family & Friends" feature. The Disneyland Resort doesn't currently offer the ability to link to your travel companions in the same way, however, you can add their admission tickets to your account. It's totally okay to have tickets on more than one account, so don't be concerned about that part! Adding all the tickets to the account that wants to be the lead member of the party during your visit is helpful in booking Lightning Lane Entrances with the Disney Genie+ Service, so you can stay together as you enjoy less time in queues and more time focused on the fun.

To add your group's tickets to your Disneyland Resort account, download the Disneyland mobile app, sign in, and click on the three-line icon at the bottom right side of the app. This will bring up a series of tiles. Click "Tickets and Passes." To add a ticket, choose "Link Tickets & Passes," where you can either scan the barcode on the ticket with your mobile device's camera or manually enter the ID by choosing "Type ID." It's that easy!

There's always something new to enjoy in the parks. Since your visit will be in the New Year, I'm sure Disneyland Resort will feature some exciting new treats, sips, and more. Lunar New Year is a favorite that is scheduled to return in January. Follow the Disney Parks Blog for all the official news about the parks.

    Have a magical day!
