Hi Diana, and welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!
When the Walt Disney Company announced
their plan to reduce plastic waste and save more than 175 million straws from landfills and oceans annually, I was as excited as Rapunzel leaving her tower. While I own an assortment of reusable cups and straws, I also recognize that there are Guests who require straws in order to drink, and it made my heart happy to hear that the Main Mouse recognizes that too, and is taking steps to make sure that Guests who need these items will be able to find them.
My advice is to bring a reusable straw cup for each child just in case. The new straw and lid policy is still brand new, and we’re just not sure yet exactly how it will all work. Bringing reusable cups for your toddlers means that you can do your part for the environment, and when you stop at the
Baby Care Centers for diaper changes, you can give the cups a quick wash. If you’ll be on the Disney Dining Plan, you could certainly use your Resort Refillable mugs for your Mouseketeers, and maybe purchase a reusable Mickey Straw to stick in the top; those adorable straws are available at most Quick-Service dining locations by the register.
Diana, as a fellow Momma, I also recognize how convenient disposable cups are - especially when chasing after two busy and excited toddlers. Should you want a cup with a lid and straw, please ask the Cast Member serving you. I have a feeling they will have some on hand, though I can’t guarantee it at this point. Cast Members want you to have a magical trip, and I have always found them more than willing to help make my life easier, especially in the Busy Kiddo Department.
Wishing you a magical vacation,
Robyn
