Moms, I just read on the DisBoards that the pet policies/rules are very inconsistant at Ft Wilderness. What exactly is the Official Pet Policy; and is it enforced or not?

Hi Sally! I am not sure what the inconsistencies about the pet policy that you have read but I just returned from a week stay at Fort Wilderness with my own little pup.

Pets are not allowed in the cabins at all unless you have a certified service animal.  When you check in for an RV or campground spot you must let them know you have a dog as it will be about five dollars more a day.  You actually should also do this when making your reservation so you are assigned a pet loop.  Certain loops are designated as pet loops at this time but during busy times other loops might also get that designation. Pets are not allowed in the tent area.

Pets must be kept on a leash and there are a couple of areas where they can be walked.  Clean up bags are provided and you are asked to make sure nothing is left behind! There is also a large dog park area that is fenced and allows the dogs to run and play. This is located next to the playground near loop 300.  Pets may not be left there unattended and this is strictly for Fort Wilderness guests use only.

No animal may be left unattended in a car.  For Fort Wilderness guests there is a kennel at the entrance to the resort where their animals can be left and provided for if they are planning on spending a long day in the parks. Disney is in the process of consolidating all park kennels to one location across from Port Orleans resort and construction is in process.  This might affect the Fort Wilderness kennel in the future so keep updated on this news.
