Hi! I've read conflicting info- with RS in DL does everyone, including non-rider, have to wait in queue watching everyone else get on ride? In WDW we got a pass at the start of the line so the non-rider was able to do something else while waiting.

Hello, Heidi! Thanks for returning to the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question.

I actually had the same question before one of my trips a year or so ago. According to the Rider Switch page of the Disneyland Resort website, the person or group who is waiting with the non-rider will usually wait outside the attraction after obtaining a Rider Switch Pass. This can mean you obtain your pass at the entrance of the queue and you can explore other areas of the park while you wait. In my experience, there are some attractions at which you will obtain your Rider Switch Pass further in the queue and sometimes right before boarding the attraction. Your best bet is to ask a Cast Member stationed at the attraction queue entrance. They will either distribute the Rider Switch Pass there or provide further instructions.

Keep in mind that the Rider Switch Pass allows the person who was waiting with the non-rider and up to two additional guests to ride the attraction and the pass can be used any time during that day. You can also use Rider Switch in conjunction with Disney FASTPASS Service.

I hope this information was helpful. Have a wonderful time at the Disneyland Resort!
