I just read an answer stating that the weather in Oct can still be wet & hot. We are visiting Oct 9-16 and picked Oct. to avoid the hot/rainy weather we heard ended in Sept. What can we expect in Oct? Also will crowds be ok? Staying at POFQ. Thx!

    Hi Rhonda,

Yes, the typical rain season does come to an end towards late September early October, but Florida's rain season is not a constant downpour of rain all day and each day, it is more of a 2-3 hour rainstorm every afternoon and can be quite violent at times, but then the sun shines brighter than ever, the heat dries up everything within a few hours and the next day the same thing happens again!  That is normally what is meant by Florida's rainy season.

The weather in October sees big changes from prior months. The rainy season is usually over by the beginning of October, and the temperatures are starting to drop. Rain is always a possibility, but the probability is lower, the rain is less intense, and it is more pleasant than the months before. That doesn't mean that the temperature will be cool, October is still quite warm. Temperatures warm enough for swimming are a nearly sure thing. Thunderstorms are still possible, even likely if you stay long enough.  The historic temperature trends for October are as follows:  Record High 95F; Normal High 84F; Normal Low 75F and the Record Low is 44F.

You will most definitely see less crowds during this time, the week following Labor Day until just prior to Thanksgiving week is a low attendance period at Walt Disney World and you couldn't have picked a better time for a chance to have a not so crowded time at WDW.  One thing to keep in mind though is that special events and promotions may influence Theme Park attendance levels and Halloween is being celebrated during this period, so if you experience some crowds, this will most likely be the reason for it!  Have a super trip!

    Best wishes,
