Just read an answer from Jason K, Georgia about garlic & onion allergies - Jason, do you have recommendations for which restaurants work well for your son? We’ve been to WDW twice with these new allergies. Even talking to the chefs, it’s been hard.

    Hiya Julia,

Welcome back to planDisney! We always love it when Guests like you come back and visit us for help planning their Disney vacations!

Unfortunately, Jason is currently riding an Ikran through the Pandora skies, but I was able to chat with him about your question before he took off. When I spoke to Jason, he gave me some great advice about what he has done for his son’s FODMAP diet.

    1. For table service locations, make reservations at the places you are most interested in dining at and email that list of locations to the Special Diets team in advance. He said that although not all meals can be modified, this will alert the locations in advance that you require a special dietary modification. They can advise you on what meals can or cannot be modified. They will also be able to prepare for your needs should they be accommodated.

    2. At counter service locations, you are not currently able to make allergy requests in advance, so it may take a little longer to speak to a chef. Again, not all meals can be modified, but a chef should still come out to discuss what modifications can be made.

As far as recommendations for locations, he said he hasn’t yet come across a location that hasn’t been able to meet his and his family’s needs, but he did provide the following list of places that he has enjoyed: Columbia Harbour House, Liberty Tree Tavern, Via Napoli, Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe, Sunshine Seasons, Teppan Edo, Takumi-Tei, and Yak and Yeti (a favorite of mine). He also mentioned all the breakfast buffets as places he enjoys.

I hope this was helpful, Julia. I’m sorry it has been difficult navigating Walt Disney World with your new allergies, but I hope Jason’s tips will make it a little easier. While Jason is taking the year away to enjoy Pandora, please feel free to come back and see any of us if you need anything. We are always happy to help!

    Happy Planning,
