Hi, there!
Welcome to planDisney, Desiree. I'm so happy you stopped by and even happier to hear you'll be visiting the Walt Disney World Resort in just a few days! You must be super excited.
My family loves to visit in the summer months. We enjoy the
Disney Resort Collection's unique pools and the
you-may-get-wet attractions in the theme parks. While we mostly experience beautiful, sunny Florida sunshine during our summer vacations, passing rainstorms or thunderstorms are common, especially in the afternoon.
If you have a
Theme Park Reservation and it rains the day of your planned visit, you are not eligible for a refund of your Theme Park Ticket. You could certainly cancel your reservation and use the value of your unused ticket toward the purchase of a new ticket to use for a future date, but I can assure you that there are lots of pixie-dusted adventures to be had in rainy weather!
Be sure to pack a raincoat or a poncho in your park bag the day of your visit. If it starts to rain, you'll be well-prepared! Most attractions feature indoor queues, so you can stay nice and dry while you wait to be immersed in the magic of Disney storytelling. Additionally, most Quick-Service dining locations offer indoor seating, so take a break from the rain and get a bite to eat! A rain shower is also a great time to shop for your vacation souvenirs. It started to rain while we were on Main Street, U.S.A. in Magic Kingdom Park while my family was visiting a few weeks ago, so we ducked into the
Emporium and got plenty of shopping done! If you're at Magic Kingdom Park and it starts to drizzle, you may be lucky enough to catch the Rainy Day Cavalcade, a rainy-day-exclusive parade that's SO much fun to watch. For more ways on how to enjoy a rainy day in the theme parks, check out these
tips from my fellow panelists at planDisney.
I hope this was helpful, Desiree. I'm wishing you a magical (and dry!) visit to the Walt Disney World Resort!
