Welcome to planDisney, Marie!
Thanks for stopping by to bring us your planning question. And as a Floridian, I completely understand how that FL weather can be a little… weather-mood-ring-ish. One second it’s sunny and gorgeous, and next thing you know, a passing storm pops out of nowhere. But being prepared is key, and as I always say, a rainy or chilly day at the Walt Disney World Resort is always better than a sunny day anywhere else!
Well, Marie, let’s get into it! In February, Central Florida usually serves up mild daytime temperatures with cooler mornings and evenings, and rain is less common than in the summer months, but absolutely still possible. I prefer to travel as light as possible, so my go-to is a light jacket to layer and wear when needed, a disposable poncho that is easy to pack and toss after, and a small umbrella. Re-packing a used poncho has never been my idea of a good time, which is why that’s my personal preference. But if you happen to find those nice compact rain jackets that come with those convenient pouches, those are great too, to throw in a backpack, even after being used. Bonus points if they have that cozy fleece lining!
I usually have several disposable ponchos handy, since they can also serve as a nice cover for your things if need be. They are affordable and travel-friendly!
If I had to pick a “most practical” February strategy, I would say this: Pack a light rain jacket for warmth, plus wind, and add a compact disposable poncho for your park bag. That way, you are covered whether it is a cool drizzle or a sudden Florida shower, and you are not shopping for emergency ponchos at the
Emporium on Main Street, U.S.A., when you would rather be grabbing a Mickey pretzel. And if you have the room, a small umbrella that can also double as travel shade. Because the sun can creep up on you, too, even in February!
I hope that helps as you start
dreaming about your suitcase and your park days. Wishing you sunshine-filled afternoons, cozy evenings, and just enough cool air to make that first walk down Main Street, U.S.A. feel extra magical!
See ya real soon,
Emille
