it’s been quite a long time since our last visit. How we used to stay on Disney property and get extended evening hours how does that work now? Do we need to stay at the Disney property? We have six adults and I

    Hiya Lisa!

Welcome to planDisney and welcome back to Walt Disney World. I don't know how long it's been since you've been back but I bet a lot has changed since then.

Let's talk about Extended Evening Theme Park Hours! If you are staying at any Disney Deluxe Resort or Disney Deluxe Villa Resort you can have on select nights the chance to stay in the Parks for two more hours while everyone else leaves. Usually, it is only Magic Kingdom Park and EPCOT that have these extended evening theme park hours but sometimes you see Disney's Hollywood Studios pop up. It's a bonus two hours or so of a basically empty Park with tons of rides and shops still open. Use this benefit if you are staying at a Deluxe or Deluxe Villa level Resort. To confirm the dates when this is available just check out the Hours & Events Calendar

Just an added benefit, if you stay at any Walt Disney World Resort Hotel you get the benefit of Early Theme Park Entry which lets you into any of the four main theme parks 30 minutes before everyone else. Each Park will have many rides running and ready for your enjoyment.

I would strongly suggest not missing out on Extended Evening Theme Park Hours as there is another opportunity for just these guests to get a chance to join a Virtual Queue. Normally Park Guests have a chance at 7 AM and then at 1 PM to request to join a Virtual Queue but guests at Parks with these extended hours can try again at 6 PM! You can now have three potential chances to try and get on either Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind or TRON Lightcycle / Run presented by Enterprise

As it is new and I do not want you to forget this please make sure that you have Theme Park Reservations secured. You cannot enter a Park now without having a reservation in place. If you have not done so already do it as soon as possible as reservations do fill up!

I hope this helps and that you have a magical time. Please feel free to come back and let me know if you have any more questions!
