Howdy Katrina and welcome back to planDisney!
I always love to hear “welcome home” when I arrive at
Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Wilderness Lodge! It is my first Disney Vacation Club home, and it holds a special place in my heart! There is so much to love about the Wilderness Lodge; we especially enjoy our time there during the Christmas season when the lobby is dressed up in its holiday best!
One of the great benefits of staying at the Wilderness Lodge is the
watercraft service that is available between the Lodge and the Magic Kingdom. That is one way that we are going to help you get to your breakfast reservation at
Disney’s Contemporary Resort. There is a Blue Flag route that runs between the Wilderness Lodge, Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground, and the Contemporary Resort. This route typically operates between 3:00 PM and 10:45 PM, and I confirmed this with a friendly Cast Member. So, the Blue Flag Route will not work for your early morning commute. The Red Flag watercraft runs from Wilderness Lodge to the Magic Kingdom, and it starts 30 minutes before the park opens each day. You will need to confirm the Magic Kingdom opening time on the day of your reservation and if it gives you enough time for a 15-minute boat ride and a 15-minute walk to the Contemporary, you have found your scenic route to breakfast! You could also avoid the walk and jump on the resort monorail at the Magic Kingdom and get off at the Contemporary for your scrumptious meal!
Another option is to hop on a complimentary Magic Kingdom theme park bus at Wilderness Lodge and depart the bus for a walk or monorail ride when you arrive at the Magic Kingdom. Bus service between Disney Resort hotels and Disney theme parks begins 45 minutes prior to park opening.
Katrina, give yourself enough total travel time that will include the possible time spent waiting in line during a busy time of the morning. I’m always leaving early for my dining reservations, and I would not hesitate to give myself a full hour for this adventure. If you show up early for your reservation, find a nice comfy spot to hang out and watch the monorail sail through the amazing resort!
One recommendation I have for you is when you have time for a quick lunch back at Wilderness Lodge, give the
Geyser Point Bar & Grill a try. If you’ve never tried a Bison Cheeseburger, you haven’t really lived! They are so good! Plus, Geyser Point is so relaxing and has such a scenic view that it is the perfect spot for lunch or to catch a perfect sunset!
Katrina, have a magical adventure and don’t forget to enjoy a Mickey Bar or two!
