Hi moms quick question the celebrate cakes you get at the host stand do they have a scene on them or are they just plain celebrating my 7 year old daughters birthday in Nov.

    Kristen:

The 6-inch ready-made cakes you can order at the host stand of most Disney restaurants for a celebration have no special decorations on them, and the only flavor available is vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream icing (imagine a frozen Sara Lee cake...) They're $21 plus tax currently, and believe me, I've had my fair share of them because I seem to always travel with family or friends who declare that it is "someone's" birthday...

However, imagine having a fresh cake--and even the option of chocolate--for the same price!  If you simply order ahead 48 hours in advance you can get a fresh (not previously frozen) vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream icing or chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream icing. You just need to know what restaurant in which you want to have it served.

If I could just make one recommendation...for $48 plus tax (and gratuity if it's served in a restaurant and not picked up at a bakery) you can order a Mickey Head cake for your daughter's 7-year-old birthday.  It's the most economical way to have a "decorated" cake at Disney but it also passes the yummy test.

A call to the Cake Hotline can set you up with it or one of the smaller fresh cakes: 407-827-2253.

Wishing y'all a magical vacation and a memorable birthday!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
