Hi Lizzie,
Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you for asking us another question. You’re in for a real treat,
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is my favourite Walt Disney World Resort Hotel. It really feels like another world, with its exotic theming and laid-back atmosphere. Whenever we’ve had a Savanna View room, our balcony has felt like my own private oasis after a hectic day in the Theme Parks.
Although I don’t think that there are any bad Savanna Views, my preference would be for a lower floor room, overlooking either the Arusha or Sunset Savanna. The reason for a lower floor? I find that you can see the animals better, rather than just seeing the tops of trees, but that really is a personal preference!
Although you can contact the Lodge up to 10 days prior to your arrival in order to make specific room requests, I’ll admit that I’ve only tried doing this a few times, with varying levels of success. Instead, I would recommend speaking to the Cast Member when you arrive and they tell you where your room is (or where it will approximately be located if it isn’t ready yet). If you don’t like the location, ask nicely for a room in another area and they will try to accommodate you.
Finally, a great planning tool that I’ve recently discovered is the “Room Finder” tool over at touringplans.com. They have an amazing catalogue of pictures taken by other Guests of what the view from their Walt Disney World Resort Hotel room was like. If you’d really like to pinpoint which section/floor you’d like for your upcoming visit, that would be a great tool for helping you to do so.
Have a Magical Day,
Lynne
