I have so many questions! I think this is my 5th for the night! We will be visiting the Animal Kingdom for the first time with our young kids. What are the MUST DOs and MUST EATS in that park?

    Hi Wendy,

I am so glad that you are visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your questions!  We love helping guests to plan magical vacations.

Disney's Animal Kingdom Park is a wonderful place to spend a day with young children.  There are a few different types of experiences at this park.  The first are attractions that involve live animals.  I recommend Kilimanjaro Safaris, on which you ride safari vehicles and may see many exotic animals, including giraffes, zebras, and elephants.  If you and your children really enjoy the animal experiences, try Pangani Forest Exploration Trail and Maharajah Jungle Trek, on which you can walk through trails at your own pace and see more animals such as tigers and gorillas.  The next category that I think of at Disney's Animal Kingdom is shows.  My current favorite show at Disney's Animal Kingdom is Finding Nemo - The Musical, which is the story of Finding Nemo told with wonderful songs and amazing, larger-than-life puppetry.  Finally, there are some attractions at Disney's Animal Kingdom which offer great ride experiences.  These include Expedition Everest - Legend of the Forbidden Mountain, which is a roller coaster that does go backward so you will need to judge your children's tolerance for thrills, and Kali River Rapids, a raft ride which is perfect on a hot day.  Your young children also might enjoy TriceraTop Spin, on which they can fly on a gentle ride in a dinosaur vehicle.

As to what to eat at Disney's Animal Kingdom, my family typically does not eat sit-down meals at this park.  If we want to grab a quick-service meal, we typically head to Flame Tree Barbecue for good smoked meats.  If we want a table-service meal, we will take the quick bus ride to Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge to dine at Jiko, Boma, or Sanaa.

I hope that these thoughts are helpful for you, Wendy!  Please do come back and ask if you have any further questions.
