Hi Michele!I would leave the Magic Kingdom around 10:00 to allow plenty of time to wander out of the park, up to the monorail station, and ride over to the Polynesian. to arrive for your ADR 10-15 minutes early. Actually if you feel comfortable with the time, you could exit at the Ticket and Transportation Center, which is located right next to the Polynesian, and enjoy walking through the Polynesian Resort grounds which are so beautiful.Another idea is to take the boat launch, which will stop at the Grand Floridian first. It is a relaxing ride with lovely views of both the Grand Floridian and Polynesian resort. I'd still leave around 10:00, too, since you may have to wait for a boat to arrive. If you end up arriving much earlier than expected, there are plenty of shops in the main building of the Polynesian resort where 'Ohanas is located!
I hate to "pass the buck," but Kim (another Disney Mom) has already answered a question where she walked through the Magic Kingdom through the eyes of her 8 year old son. I think that will give you a great perspective of some attractions your son may enjoy. Thanks for compliment, too! Kara
