Bright suns, Michael! Welcome back to planDisney.
Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities is one of the most incredible places on Batuu. From the moment I entered
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and saw the shop's exterior, I was intrigued, and when I finally entered the shop, I was not disappointed. Dok-Ondar has acquired treasures and mysteries from throughout the galaxy, and it’s fascinating to check out the items on display inside. Take your time as you wander the shop – you will surely spot some familiar items. Dok is a little cranky, but his assistants will be happy to answer any of your questions; I’ve learned so much about the Star Wars universe on my visits!
The legacy lightsabers are some of the coolest items in the shop.
This Disney Parks Blog article provides an update on the fan voting that took place to determine the newest lightsabers to be displayed at Dok-Ondar’s, and I love that Ahsoka Tano’s saber is being offered. The legacy lightsabers are sold as hilts, to which you can add blades and other accessories for additional cost. At this time, the legacy lightsabers range in price from $130 to $200 U.S. dollars, though please note that pricing is subject to change and availability is not guaranteed. Ahsoka Tano’s is one of the pricier hilts because it is double-bladed; Rey’s is at the lower end of the range and Kylo Ren's is priced right in the middle. Blades come in two sizes and are currently priced around $50 (subject to change) – the blades sold at Dok-Ondar’s are 36 and 26 inches, while the blades on Savi’s Workshop lightsabers are 31 inches.
I will share with you that I consider
Savi’s Workshop to be a must-do experience when visiting the planet of Batuu. I was absolutely blown away by the experience and actually had tears in my eyes during one moment. You will feel the Force flowing as you activate your lightsaber, and Savi’s assistants are fantastic at helping you select each element. If you’re deciding between getting your lightsaber from Savi or Dok-Ondar, I think it comes down to the experience itself. Savi’s Workshop provides almost a show-like experience throughout the build, and it’s unforgettable. One other thing to consider is that you will select a kyber crystal for your lightsaber at Savi’s Workshop, but the legacy lightsabers do not work with kyber crystals (should you choose to add a blade, you'll select the color). One of Dok-Ondar’s assistants showed me how to interchange the kyber crystals in a Savi’s lightsaber, and it was really neat to learn about the crystals and see how they interact with the different builds.
Michael, may the Force be with you as you determine which lightsaber is the perfect one for you to use on your Star Wars adventure. As you make preparations for your visit, please come back and see us if we can help with any further questions.
‘Til the Spire,
Robyn
