My question is my wife wants me to bring all her kids, spouses, girl friends down to Disney a total of 22 people. What is the least expensive way to do this? I have thought about the DVC, would that be a smart thing for this? Thanks

    Hi Patrick,

This is a great question, and it sounds like you and your wife and your family and friends will have a great time!

My family and I love our Disney Vacation Club membership; however, for a group of twenty-two, if you are planning only this vacation, I do not believe that Disney Vacation Club is the best option for you. On Walt Disney World property, the largest Disney Vacation Club villa sleeps 12 people. These are three-bedroom grand villas, so you would have to book two of them. You could call Disney Reservations at 407-W-DISNEY (407-934-7639) to see if any of these are available; however, I do believe that they are very popular and are difficult to book using a traditional payment method. Even if you can, I do not believe that this would be a particularly cost-effective option.

At Walt Disney World, there are a few options for accommodations that will sleep up to six people. These include the cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort, or the family suites at Disney's Art of Animation Resort or Disney's All Star Music. You can also include an infant or toddler (under three years old) in any of these rooms, which means that there can be a seventh person - as long as that person is under three years of age. While I love all of these resorts, I again think that this option may not be the most cost-effective.

My best suggestion for a cost-effective way for a group this large is to consider staying outside of Walt Disney World, especially if you are looking for one place that can house your entire group. The website allstarvacationhomes.com has many offerings of vacation homes with up to nine bedrooms. Many of their properties are located close to Walt Disney World.

I do hope that you consider membership in Disney Vacation Club if you and your family plan to return for future vacations. Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions!
