Hey there, hi there, Herman! Welcome, and thank you for your question.
Walt Disney World is so generous to members of our military. Disney does recognize our active duty service members and military veterans who are retired or 100% service-connected disabled with pretty amazing
special offers.
Herman, in order to qualify for what we know as the
Military Salute tickets that are available, you do have to be active duty, a retired veteran after 20+ years of military service, or someone who is 100% service-connected disabled. The same is true of the
Disney Resorts Collection hotel
offer that is available for members of the military or those eligible through retirement or disability.
There are discounted tickets that you can purchase from your local military base, Herman, so that's definitely a place to check out for a few dollars off. I also know that
Shades of Green Resort, the Armed Forces Recreation Center located at Walt Disney World, does offer the opportunity for honorably discharged veterans with their DD-214 to stay at the resort during the months of January and September. The resort is beautiful, with large rooms and great restaurants. They do tend to book quickly, though, so if your October dates are at all flexible, and you want to look into Shades of Green, now is definitely the time.
Also, keep an eye out for the
special offers available to the general public. You might find something that works for your travel dates.
I hope you have a practically perfect visit to Walt Disney World, Herman, and thank you so very much for your service.
Anna
