Hi Brenda! Thanks for popping by planDisney with your question! It sounds like you're gearing up for a groovy multi-generational trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth! I frequently visit the parks with my parents who also use scooters to get around, so I'm more than happy to chat with you about some of the options and give you some tips for what has worked for them on our visits!
If you travel with a small trailer, you should have no problem parking your vehicle and trailer at
Disney's Pop Century Resort during your stay. I spoke with a helpful Cast Member who suggested you let the Cast Members know you are traveling with a trailer during your check-in, as they may direct you to a particular area of the parking lot based on crowd levels. The theme parks also offer parking for standard vehicles, as well as oversized vehicles, campers, and trailers for an additional fee. You can find all of the information about theme park
parking options and fees online to help you plan for your visit!
Brenda, as a guest at a Disney Resort hotel, your family will have complimentary transportation to and from the theme parks as well, and this includes access to your family members who will be utilizing scooters. Staying at Disney's Pop Century Resort gives you the added convenience of the
Disney Skyliner for transportation to both
EPCOT and
Disney's Hollywood Studios. With the Skyliner, guests in scooters can scoot right into their gondola and be whisked away with ease. My parents have told me that they are only able to put one scooter in each gondola, so you may need to briefly separate your party if you choose to use the Skyliner, but each gondola can accommodate one scooter with additional guests to keep them company as you soar through the sky on your way to a magical day!
If you utilize the complimentary bus transportation from Pop to Magic Kingdom Park, Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park, or Disney Springs, your parents will also be able to drive their scooters up the handicap ramp (with the help of the bus driver) to be secured into place before the bus is loaded. Typically, one bus can fit 2-3 scooters. The rest of your party will be allowed to enter the bus once your parents are secure so you can all ride together.
I'd also like to share that all of the attraction queues at the Walt Disney World Resort accommodate guests using scooters; Cast Members will confirm with your travel party that they will be able to transfer to the ride, and when it is time to board the attraction, they will move your scooter so that it will be waiting for you upon your exit.
Brenda, one last tip I'd like to share with you is that Disney does have a
featured provider, Scooter Bug, that can deliver scooters to your Disney Resort hotel for you even if you are not present. My parents usually set up their rentals ahead of time so that their scooters are ready and waiting when they arrive.
I hope this helps you and your family prepare for your magical vacation! I'm sending you pixie dust for making magic and memories; please come back anytime if we can help again! We're all ears at
planDisney!
Cheers,
Alison
