Hiya Robert!
Welcome to planDisney!
Dining plans are returning and I'm so excited to get a chance to enjoy it myself again!
The
dining plan provides meals and snacks for guests who purchase a Walt Disney World Resort Package that includes a stay at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel. The package is based on the total number of nights of your Disney Resort stay. As a result, you cannot split the package or shorten it when on the same reservation. The only way you could just have a dining plan for 7 nights versus the full 9 nights of your stay would your stay to be split into two reservations. One reservation would have to be for 7 nights and then another for 2 nights. There would then be two different reservation numbers. When doing this there is a risk that you would have to change your room for the second reservation. That could be a bit confusing and may be more trouble then it's worth.
I am wondering if you are concerned about the sheer quantity of food that is offered on the dining plan. I can see how it can be intimidating to sit down for several meals throughout a trip and eat a large meal. That may not be your dining style and that's ok! My family loves having one table-service meal a day and I have friends who only eat
quick-service meals. You should consider how your dining style on vacation is and make the best decision for your trip.
Review menus and know that most meals at Walt Disney World are hearty and delicious. No matter what you choose or decide, I strongly recommend eating somewhere you have never eaten before or a type of food that you have not tried before. Many times, being adventurous in dining is easier when walking around the World Showcase in EPCOT or lounging on the grass near Cinderella Castle. Enjoy yourself!
I do hope this helps and you have a delicious time!
Happy Planning!
