Hi Kayla,
Thanks for visiting planDisney! I’m so happy to hear that you and your friends will be attending the
Oogie Boogie Bash this year. Sounds like you're planning to bring a little X-Men energy to the party… and I’m all in for that!
When it comes to dressing up as a fierce mutant like Wolverine, it’s all about the claws (and the sideburns), right? But even Logan had to play by a few rules sometimes, and so do we at the parks. I checked out the official
costume guidelines, and here’s what stood out:
“Costumes may not contain sharp objects, pointed objects, or materials that may accidentally strike another Guest.”
With that in mind, I recommend going with foam claws instead of plastic ones. Foam is more likely to pass security, while plastic claws could raise concerns. Since this is a bit of a gray area, the final decision will ultimately be up to the Cast Members at the security checkpoint. If the claws aren't allowed in, you'll be asked to return them to your car or discard them.
Pro tip for maximum mischief: Your event ticket includes admission to California Adventure three hours before the party begins (no reservation or extra park ticket required). This is a perfect opportunity to enter the park, pick up your Oogie Boogie Bash credentials, and come up with your game plan!
When I attended the Oogie Boogie Bash, my family and I ate in
Downtown Disney around 2 p.m. to avoid parking lot traffic. We were also able to bypass longer security lines by entering earlier in the day. I brought a bag with my full costume and changed inside California Adventure before the event began. If your X-Men outfits have lots of parts (maybe even a leather jacket?), I definitely recommend going that route.
I hope this info helps you slice through your planning like Logan through Sentinels, Kayla. If you have any more questions or would like extra tips for your trip, feel free to reach out to me or any of my fellow planDisney panelists. We're always here to add a little extra pumpkin spice magic to your planning!
Have a spooktacular time!
