Hi David and welcome to planDisney!

I just love being a Florida resident and a Walt Disney World Passholder!  It gives my family the flexibility to visit as often as possible and we sure do take advantage of that.  We love to head over for day trips, weekend adventures and extended vacations and never pass up the opportunity to visit with Mickey Mouse and friends.

Thanks for bringing us your question about upgrading your Walt Disney World annual pass!  I am happy to help.  When you upgrade your annual pass, the change is made immediately, so if you upgrade your Disney Pixie Dust Pass to the Disney Pirate Pass today, you can use it as the Disney Pirate Pass today.  The major difference between the Pixie Dust Pass and the Pirate Pass is that you can use your Pirate Pass on most weekends.  Both passes have blockout dates, so that is definitely something you want to check out before upgrading by viewing the Annual Passholder Admissions Calendar.  I see you're planning to arrive in mid-March, so be aware that the Pixie Dust Pass and the Pirate Pass are blocked out for a few weeks starting just after your arrival for spring break.

You can easily upgrade your pass by visiting your annual pass account online and selecting the "Upgrade" button to the right or you can call and speak to a friendly Cast Member over the phone to do it.  Please stop back by and visit if you have any additional vacation planning questions.

    Have a magical day!
