Hi, I have a question. I am a paraplegic from belly button down and I am going to disney with my mom in Sept. I was wondering if there is anything you can tell me to make my visit any easier. I am stressing it majorly. Please and thank you.

First, take a big deep breath and begin to think about the amazing trip that is right around the corner!  Then, relax. Disney is amazing for helping guests.  And I know this from experience because my mother is also in a wheelchair, and we've gone to WDW with her several times. My father to this day still talks about how impressed he was with how cast members helped my mother & made her trip wonderful.

From the moment we arrived at the airport, Disney's Magical Express was able to lift her into the bus with ease, but we had included a notation in our reservation about traveling with someone who was unable to leave her wheelchair. I also included notations in all our dining reservations & my parents' room reservation, and we truly never, ever had problems, and we used Disney transportation for the entire trip.

When you visit the parks, I'd grab a copy of the park maps since they indicate the attractions where you can remain in your wheelchair, but you can also click here to learn about them in advance if you'd like. You may also find it helpful to read more information about accommodations Disney makes for Guests with Mobility Disabilities. You may also find it worthwhile to look for the book Passporter's Open Mouse by Deb Wills and Debra Martin Koma.

Just another note, we also took advantage of the First Aid stations when my mom needed a private, quiet place to attend to some of her needs.

Disney is really one of the best places I've taken my mom for her to be treated well and gain help as needed, even better than her own doctor's offices! I hope this helps to ease your stress and please let me know if I can help with any more questions.  I am very happy to help!
