My question was not answered.. are the only tickets that are eligible for no reservations the ones that are purchased from Disney? The ones on getaway today do require me to put a date in before I purchase them. So does that mean it’s date based ?

Hey Howdy Hey Nichole and welcome to planDisney!

I am so sorry for the confusion around your tickets and Theme Park Reservations. As this process has recently changed, the lingo may get a little tricky at times. Let's see if we can clear this up for you so you can get back to the fun of planning your Magical vacation.

In most cases, the tickets that are sold from third-party groups such as the one you mentioned are Date-Based Theme Park Tickets. The confusing part is that you have to select a theme park and the day you want these tickets to start. The prices to enter the parks vary significantly throughout the year and depending on which park you want to visit and on which specific day. All these factors will influence the price of the tickets. When you select the day and park, this is not a reservation but just tells Disney when and where you intend to start and the date affects the price of the tickets. According to the new rules about Theme Park Reservations, date-based 1-day and multi-day theme park tickets no longer need reservations to enter the parks.

I wish I could stop there but it gets tricky when third parties are involved. When it comes to purchasing tickets from third-party sites, I cannot speak directly about the products they sell or how Disney classifies them. With regards to needing Theme Park Reservations, you have two options, you can call Get Away Today and ask that specific question to them as they will be the experts for the details of the products they sell. The second option is purchasing the tickets, linking them to your account and then trying to make reservations. Looking at the Theme Park Reservation Availability, you should have no issues making them at this time if need be. If you are unable to make the reservations with your tickets linked to your My Disney Experience account, I would assume Disney does not require you to. It just never hurts to double-check to be certain.

Sorry for the not-so-clear answer as the rules with Disney are much less clear when third parties are involved. Best of luck as you continue to plan for your trip later this year. Please feel free to stop back with any further questions you may have, we are always happy to help!

    Have a Magical day,
