Welcome to planDisney Chad! Thank you so much for sending in your question. It’s great to hear that you’re getting ready for your
Walt Disney World visit! Lightning Lane details can definitely feel a little confusing at first, especially when traveling with a group, and I’m happy to help clear things up so you can focus on enjoying every moment of your trip.
If you’re booking
Lightning Lanes Passes for your whole party, everyone on that reservation has to scan in at the first Lightning Lane before you can book the next one. The system doesn’t consider the Lightning Lane “used” until every person included has tapped in. If even one person doesn’t scan (because they skip the ride, are late, or change their mind), the app will block you from making another Lightning Lane for that group.
If you know ahead of time that someone won’t be riding, the workaround is to remove that person from the Lightning Lane reservation in the
My Disney Experience app before anyone scans in. Once the remaining riders scan, you’ll be free to book the next Lightning Lane right away.
Chad, I hope this information helps you feel prepared as you plan your Lightning Lane strategy for your Walt Disney World visit. Thank you so much for stopping by planDisney with your question, it’s always a pleasure to help! Wishing you a smooth, stress free park day filled with magical moments, short waits, and plenty of pixie dust along the way.
