My question is I am a larger person. I am 6 ft tall and am heavy. How do the rides accommodate a large person? I'm not too concerned about the scary rides but like space mountain and what used to be the Matterhorn.

    Hi, Sabrina!

I'm so happy that you came to the Moms Panel with your question. I am on the fluffy side and before my first visit to a Disney Theme Park, I was very concerned about whether or not I would fit on the ride vehicles. With that being said, one of the many reasons I love to visit the Walt Disney World Resort is because I don't have any issues on any of them. Some of the attractions even have test ride vehicles where you can try it out first. Just ask a Cast Member if one is available.

Space Mountain happens to be one of my VERY favorite attractions, so I'm thrilled to give you the lowdown! First, as you're approaching the Cast Member where you're going to board, let them know that you'd like to sit in a front ride vehicle. They will not ask you why. You may have to wait for the next one depending on where they are as far as loading, but, it's worth it because the front vehicles have more leg room than the seats behind it. You will feel very secure and the pull-down bar locks in without having to be pulled toward you very far at all. They'll double-check it before you launch. Getting out of the ride vehicle is sometimes where I have a hard time, but I'm a pro at it now, and you will be too! What you want to do is grab the bars where you're going to step up to help lift yourself up and out. Don't worry if it takes you a few seconds longer than another Guest, it's all good!

I also want to direct you to an article that I read about experiencing Walt Disney World as a fluffy person. You can find the article by going to AllEars.net and doing a search on the site for "WDW At Large". You will find a wealth of information, tips, and tricks about many of the other Attractions around the Parks as well. I hope this sets your mind at ease and I'd love you to come ask me any other questions you may have as you plan your trip!

Wishing you Pixie Dusted vacation planning!
