Hi, Cindy! I'm so glad you stopped by planDisney, and I'm happy to help you with this question!
When you book a
Walt Disney World Resort vacation package, you are required to make a deposit of $200, and
the balance is due 30 days before your arrival. Disney does not offer extensions for this. There are a few options, though.
The guest could call
Walt Disney World Resort Tickets and Hotel Reservations to speak with a Cast Member who can help them cancel their vacation package and rebook it as a room-only reservation. They would need to do this before the 30-day deadline, and it would cause them to lose any promotions or discounts they were using. The balance for a room-only reservation is due upon check-in. Theme park tickets can be added at that time, as well.
Another option is to apply for a
Disney Visa Card. They have three options, all of which offer zero interest for 6 months on Disney vacation packages, in addition to other great benefits. It's important to read the details, though, because some of the cards do come with an annual fee. I've had mine for over 20 years and love all the perks, especially earning
Disney Reward Dollars!
Finally, they could consider rescheduling the trip altogether. There simply may be a better time for their vacation. Walt Disney World isn't going anywhere. In fact, there's often something new on the horizon, which can be a motivation to postpone a visit.
I hope this is the information you were looking for, Cindy. If you have additional questions, feel free to
reach out to me directly or stop by
planDisney again anytime!
