I have a question about the free water I keep reading about. We will be there in July so I know it will be HOT. I know that you can get free ice water at any counter service. Do we have to wait in the long line or can we just go up to the side and ask ?

    Hi Barbara!
You are right about the summer being very hot in Walt Disney World and it is very important to stay hydrated!  My son and I usually go to Walt Disney World at the end of August and it has been very warm at that time as well.  We utilize the tip of getting a cup of ice water from Quick Service (or Counter Service) locations all the time.  I would recommend that you wait in line because you do not want to get other guests upset at you because they may think that you are budging in line.  It has been my experience that the Quick Service (or Counter Service) lines move rather quickly and you will have your water and be off to your next attraction rapidly.  Some other great hot weather tips relating to water that I have learned are:

If your Resort room has a refrigerator, then freeze water overnight in a water bottles (make sure to leave enough room in the bottle for the water to expand as the ice is formed).  Bring these frozen water bottles with you in your backpack or bag and then the ice will slowly met and your water will be ice cold for hours.

Wet a washcloth from your room and put it in the freezer overnight.  In the morning, place the frozen washcloth in a small plastic bag and take it with you.  When you get really hot during the day take the washcloth out and place it on your forehead neck to cool you down.

Purchase a water bladder pack like a Camelback and fill it with water and ice from the Resort ice machine in the morning and you will have cold water to drink all day long.

I hope that all of your summer travels in Walt Disney World are magical!

    Keep Dreaming Big!
