I have a question about coming to WDW in the middle of August. It is predicted to be very hot (which I don't mind) and very rainy (which I do mind). Has anyone traveled here during this time and kind of know what to expect?

    Hi Amanda,

Thanks for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I have visited Walt Disney World several times in the middle of August. I know the weather averages will tell you it will be hot and rainy, but the averages don't tell the whole story.

The weather in Florida in August will be hot so I'm glad you're prepared for it. There is typically some rain every day, but we have been for a week in August and only had rain one day. Frequently, there will be afternoon thunderstorms that might last thirty minutes to several hours. We actually enjoy those rainstorms because people will leave the parks thinking the rain will last, and we will get to enjoy shorter lines for a brief time. My husband and I are weather fanatics and have several weather apps installed on our smart phones. When the rain starts, we check to see if it's going to be short lived or long lasting. If short lived, we'll find an attraction to take refuge in. If the rain looks to be long lasting, we do consider heading back to the resort for a break. We have honestly only had that happen once or twice.

There are no guarantees with the weather, but I guarantee there is no better place than Walt Disney World to wait out a rainstorm! Please let me know if you have any other vacation planning questions. Wishing you a magical vacation,
    Amy H.
