Another question: Can I bring VCR and VHS tapes to the resorts?

Hello there, Michael! Welcome back to planDisney, and thank you so much for sending us such a fun question. I have to say, I love the nostalgic twist in this one! It’s not every day that we get to talk about VHS tapes when planning a Walt Disney World vacation.

You can absolutely bring VHS and VCR tapes into the theme parks or with you to your Disney Resorts Collection hotel, since they are not on the list of prohibited items. Disney’s security rules are primarily focused on keeping out anything that could be considered a weapon, an illegal substance, or a safety risk, so things like VHS tapes are perfectly fine to carry in.

That said, I do want to add a quick note that might be important for your plans. VHS and VCR players are not available in Disney Resort hotel rooms. All of the in-room entertainment is digital these days, with smart televisions that allow you to watch Disney programming, connect to streaming services, and even see details about your Resort stay. So if your VHS tapes are for personal entertainment and not just as a fun prop, taping resource, or collectible to have with you, you’ll want to make sure you bring along your own VHS/VCR player in order to actually use them.

Michael, I hope this clears things up for you. I love that you’re thinking outside the box and finding ways to bring your own unique magic with you on your trip. If you’d like, I’d be happy to share some tips on other fun retro or nostalgic activities you can add to your vacation. There are so many ways to relive Disney memories both old and new during a stay at Walt Disney World!

    Warm hugs,
