Tricia Asked Note: This answer was provided prior to the change to planDisney and may still contain references to Disney Parks Moms Panel.

A question was asked recently about directions to a reserved area for illuminations....I am confused. How do you make reservations for this?

Hi Tricia! The reserved areas for the various Disney parks parades and shows such as Wishes and Illuminations are available in several different ways. They are beginning to include them as a FastPass option with the new Magic Bands/FastPass+ program. This is now in testing stages and only those guests who are chosen to test will have the option to select it as one of their daily FastPasses. In the future when the program goes property wide all guests will have the option.

Often other packages such as AAA offer a special viewing section or if you book a Candlelight or  special event Food and Wine function. You might also see private parties booking some of the end section for Illuminations on any given evening. But no worries for all other guests as there are still great viewing spots around the World Showcase lagoon to see Illuminations each night. In fact we prefer to wait to decide where to watch once we see the direction of the wind that night. You just don't want to have the smoke and cinders blowing towards you!

I hope you get a chance to enjoy Illuminations as it is my all time favorite show in Walt Disney World. I especially love the holiday addition to it!
