I have a question about Animal Kingdom Lodge. Do you have to stay in a savannah room in order to see the animals or are there places to walk around perimeter to see the animals? Or other viewing areas?

    Hi Thomas,

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you for asking us another question… especially one about my absolute favourite Walt Disney World Resort Hotel, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge!  What I love most is the unbelievably warm and welcoming atmosphere that surrounds you the moment you walk through its doors - it really feels like an entirely different world.

The answer to your question is an unqualified YES! During our last visit to Walt Disney World Resort, we stayed in a Pool View room but we took the time to roam around the Lodge and look at all of the different animal viewing areas. I actually think that not having a Savanna View room allowed us to see a wider variety of animals because we would go and observe them from all of the different lookout points. When you check in, you’ll receive a map that will give you a list of the different animal observation points.

Don’t forget to ask whether night vision goggles are available for you to use during your visit - using them is a really fun and unique experience!  Plus, there is often some african storytelling by the fire (along with some really comfy rocking chairs), so it’s always worth taking a peek at the happenings on Arusha Rock once the sun goes down.

    Have a Magical Day,

    Lynne
