Hi there, Efrain! Thanks for bringing your great question to planDisney. We're happy you're here!
I'm so happy to hear that you're making plans to visit
The Most Magical Place on Earth during
the most wonderful time of year! Late December will award you with cooler temperatures and happy holiday decorations around every corner. While there are many reasons to love visiting Walt Disney World Resort, I personally appreciate all of the opportunities given to Guests of varying needs so they don't miss a minute of the magic!
Efrain, I understand that you're hoping to bring a portable folding stool into the park. Unfortunately,
folding chairs are not permitted at Walt Disney World Resort. When I visited the parks last year with my mom, who has both mobility needs as well as diabetes, we found a few great ways for her to navigate the parks in a way that could keep her healthy and happy! I'd love to help you with a few ideas so you can pick which one is right for you:
- First, consider renting an Electric Conveyance Vehicle (ECV). Walt Disney World Resort is really big, and Guests can often find themselves walking somewhere between eight and 15 miles each day. Using an ECV may be the perfect way to pace yourself while staying immersed in all of the magic! You could rent an ECV day by day at Walt Disney World Resort, or you could rent an ECV for your length of stay through another provider such as ScooterBug or Gold Mobility Scooters.
- While folding chairs (or stools) aren't permitted in the parks, you may be able to bring a walking cane with a seat or a rollator (a form of a walker that also includes a folding seat). If you have any questions about these or other amenities, feel free to contact Disability Services at (407) 560-2547 or email disability.services@disneyparks.com.
- Take some time to check out all of the services for Guests with mobility disabilities available to you! If you need more assistance regarding your health concerns, you may also wish to speak to a Cast Member about the Disability Access Service (DAS) at Walt Disney World Resort, which is beneficial to Guests who are unable to wait in a traditional queue due to a disability. This can be done anywhere between two and 30 days prior to your trip. If you do, I'd recommend making time for this virtual chat closer to 30 days before your arrival date, if possible. While nothing can be guaranteed, they'll be able to help you with the next right steps that are available to you.
Before you arrive, take some time to download and explore the
My Disney Experience app! This app will allow you to check wait times for attractions, view park maps, access
virtual queues, and even
mobile order food. This is my favorite way to minimize waits and maximize the fun! And if you have any other questions, I hope you visit us again!
Wishing you the very merriest,
Michelle
