On the 2017 QS DDP can you substitute the drink for a snack (side/dessert,etc.) like you used to be able in 2016? I'm thinkig at the resort where I don't need the drink since I have the refillable mug.

    Hi Nicole,

I am always pleased to answer questions from fellow Canadians and would be thrilled to help. I am also a big fan of the Disney Dining Plan, and typically purchase it most trips. Not only does it allow me to pre-pay and budget our meals in advance, but it also ensures that we will have plenty of time to dine at our favourite Disney restaurants during our vacation.

Nicole, I am happy to report that there is still great flexibility with the Disney Dining Plan. Not only are there three different versions of the plan which you can customize to accommodate the dining styles and preferences of your travel party, but there is also great choice, selection and flexibility within the plan itself.

If you are purchasing the Disney Quick-Service Dining Plan, you will indeed be able to substitute the drink allocated to each Quick-Service meal credit for any eligible snack at the location in question, so long as it is done in the same transaction. Note that this substitution policy applies to any Disney owned and operated restaurant. While non-Disney owned and operated restaurants participating in the Disney Dining Plan may also allow such substitutions, the substitution is in the discretion of the individual restaurant.

Particularly when dining we are dining at our Disney Resort hotel, we typically fill our Disney Resort Refillable Mugs (which are included in each Disney Dining Plan) with a fountain drink and swap out the drink included with our Quick-Service meal credits for a dessert. Mickey bar anyone?

Nicole, I hope this information is helpful as you plan for your upcoming trip. Should you have any other questions, please be sure to send them our way. We are here to help!

    Bon Appetit!
