Hiya, Tammy! Welcome to
planDisney, and thanks a bunch for stopping by with your question. This is actually a really common situation!
When a
Walt Disney World reservation is initially created directly by a Guest, Disney does allow a Travel Agent to step in and take over that booking, but only within a very specific window of time after the reservation is made. Once that window closes, Disney locks the booking to the original creator, and an agent would no longer be able to officially manage it. Because that timeframe can vary and isn't always publicly advertised, the best thing you can do right now is reach out directly to the Travel Agent or agency you'd like to work with and ask them if they can still submit a takeover request for your reservation. If they're able to do it successfully, then they'll be able to handle changes and plans moving forward, just as if they had booked it themselves from the start.
If that window has already passed, it doesn't necessarily mean you're out of options. It just means the support would look a little bit different. Many Disney-certified agencies offer planning-only services for trips they didn't originally book. In those cases, the agent won't technically own the reservation, but they can still help you strategize your park days, secure dining reservations, talk through
Lightning Lane choices, and guide you through the planning process. That type of service usually comes with a separate planning fee, since it falls outside the commission Disney pays when an agent books the trip themselves. Some agencies charge a flat rate, while others price it based on how much help you need.
So no, it's not necessarily too late, Tammy. It just depends on whether your agent can still step in officially, or if a planning-only option makes more sense for you at this point. Either way, you still have support available, and you don't have to finish planning this trip on your own unless you want to.
Warm hugs,
Ana Paula
