For purposes of making dining reservations 180 days in advance, do you have to be a registered guest at a resort? We are planning a January 2009 trip, but can't yet make reservations since rates are not yet available-how is this done?

You do not need to be a registered guest at a WDW resort in order to make your 180 days in advance dining reservations.

However, you'll have to call back each day. With a reservation, you will be allowed to call on the 180 day mark and make up to 10 days worth of Advance Dining Reservations (ADRs).

    See my explanation here.

Actually you can make reservations prior to the January 2009 rates being released, however your deposit will be based on this year's rate. Read more here.

Our family hopes to vacation in January as well! I'm starting to make plans so I can call for my ADRs!
    Best wishes to you!!
