when purchasing genie+ does it auto charge the credit card on file at your hotel? Secondly does purchasing food or merchandise through the app get charged back to your resort card? Can you set up secondary payment in app?

    Hello Ginamarie,

It’s wonderful to hear you’re diving into the details for your magical vacation planning! Let’s get right into your questions about Disney Genie+ and the payment processes at Walt Disney World Resort.

First up, purchasing Disney Genie+. When you decide to add Disney Genie+ to your park day via the My Disney Experience app, the charge doesn't automatically go to the credit card you have on file with your Disney Resort hotel. Instead, you’ll be prompted to enter a payment method at the time of purchase directly in the app. This gives you the flexibility to choose which card you’d like to use for each transaction, rather than defaulting to your room charge or the card on file.

As for purchasing food or merchandise through the My Disney Experience app, there’s a bit of pixie dust there too! You generally have the option to charge purchases back to your Disney Resort hotel room if you have charging privileges set up and linked to your MagicBand or MagicMobile pass. This means that your food and merchandise purchases can indeed be charged back to your room—and by extension, to the credit card you have on file for your hotel stay. It’s a convenient way to keep all your magical spending in one place, especially when you’re immersed in the magic of the parks.

Regarding setting up a secondary payment method in the app, the My Disney Experience app allows you to store multiple credit card options for payments. This flexibility lets you choose which card to use for each transaction, whether you’re buying Genie+ for the day, snagging that must-have souvenir, or treating yourself to a delicious snack. You can manage and select your preferred payment method directly in the app for each purchase, giving you control over your spending and budgeting throughout your visit.

Remember, while the essence of these features remains consistent, Disney is always sprinkling new enhancements across their services and digital platforms. It's a good idea to check the latest updates on the Walt Disney World Resort website or directly in the My Disney Experience app closer to your arrival date.
