Greetings Brena,
Oh, I come from a land, from a (not so) faraway place, where the Walt Disney World Monorail roams. I'm glad your search for answers has brought you to planDisney and it would be an honor to share my Disney Genie+ service experience and recommendations with you.
After 10,000 years stuck in the lamp, everyone's favorite Genie is delighting Guests on their magical
Walt Disney World Resort vacations. The complimentary
Disney Genie service, available in the
My Disney Experience mobile app, gives all Guests access to a custom tip board, personalized itinerary creator, and interactive map of the theme parks. Even when the Genie's in your pocket, he's at work helping you plan your best Disney day.
Purchasing the Disney Genie+ service gives you even more convenience when enjoying your park days. Ali Baba had them 40 thieves, but Genie+ offers a limited wait time at over 40 attractions throughout the
four theme parks with
Lightning Lane reservations made in the My Disney Experience app. When purchased in advance, the Genie+ option must be added for the duration of your stay. For currently the same price per day, it can also be purchased day-of on your individual park days. Time to illuminate the possibilities!
On a recent family vacation, we purchased Genie+ for our Hollywood Studios day. We were there for
Early Theme Park Entry and had experienced all of our desired attractions, including six Lightning Lane reservations, by our 4:30 p.m. dinner reservation. We also made good use of our Genie+ purchase at Magic Kingdom park, where we were able to book multiple attractions in succession. We were happy with our decision not to purchase Genie+ for our Disney's Animal Kingdom park day because we were only there in the morning and knew we wanted to spend time walking the animal trails and earning
adventure badges. We did not feel we got the most out of our Genie+ purchase at EPCOT because we arrived late morning and took time to enjoy a delicious meal at Le Cellier.
Based on my experience, a Genie+ purchase makes the most sense on full park days when you plan on riding multiple attractions. Also based on my experience, I would recommend holding off on adding the Genie+ option to your ticket until you've discussed goals and a basic itinerary for each park day. Even after your initial ticket purchase, you can
modify your tickets in advance of your trip to include Genie+.
When the wind's from the east and the sun's from the west, Brena, I know your family will make the Genie+ decision that makes the most sense for your family's schedule and vacation style. Come on down, stop on by, hop a carpet and fly back to planDisney with any other trip-planning questions.
No wishing for more wishes,
Jennifer
