Hi Lorraine and thanks for stopping by planDisney with your great question. I'm always super happy to be able to help a fellow Brit with the planning of a trip to my favourite holiday destination -
Walt Disney World.
A visit to Walt Disney World is always super exciting but, that coupled with celebrating a birthday whilst you're there, is the icing on the cake!
Top Tip - Be sure to stop by any
Guest Relations location or, the Front Desk at your Disney Resort hotel, to pick up a complimentary birthday badge for your son to wear during your stay.
Going back to your question, Lorraine, I can understand the confusion here as when buying tickets directly from the
Walt Disney Travel Company (www.disneyholidays.co.uk) it specifically asks that you enter children's ages on your return travel date which, in your case, would be 10 and based on this information, an adult ticket would be selected.
Contrary to this, other third party travel agents here in the UK state that if your child is 9 years old when you first activate your tickets, you can still purchase a child ticket even if they turn 10 whilst on holiday. If your child will be turning 10 before the activation date, then you must purchase an adult ticket.
For clarity on the matter, I just chatted with a Cast Member called Fifi via the "Chat With Us" option in the My Disney Experience app who confirmed that you would buy the ticket based on what the child's age will be on the day of first use.
Based on this information, so long as you will be activating your
Disney Magic Tickets prior to your son's 10th birthday then you would purchase a child ticket for him to use throughout your visit.
I hope that this has answered your question, Lorraine. Please feel free to re-visit us here at planDisney if we can be of any further help with the planning of your trip.
Wishing you a magical holiday filled with memories which will last a lifetime!
Emma
