I purchased and used magic bands in december of 2020 will I still be able to use those in feb of 2024?

Hello and welcome to planDisney, Deborah!

Thank you for taking the time to send us your very first question. It is a pleasure to assist you as you plan a visit to the Walt Disney World Resort!

I have a beloved Princess Tiana MagicBand that I purchased back in 2017, and I could still use it during a visit in 2022. Please note, however, that a Cast Member told me MagicBands are designed to last for about 2 to 3 years. The same Cast Member also advised me that some functionalities could not work properly, like linking Disney PhotoPass photos and videos to My Disney Experience.

I was able to use my MagicBand to enter the theme parks (with valid admission linked to my Disney account), but I decided to create a Disney MagicMobile pass via the My Disney Experience app and link it to my digital wallet. The nice thing about Disney MagicMobile service is that it offers the same features as a MagicBand, and you can use an eligible iPhone, Apple Watch or Android phone. I was still able to use my old MagicBand, but having a Disney MagicMobile pass gave me the peace of mind I needed to enjoy the parks, knowing that if my MagicBand didn’t work properly, I would still be able to link photos to My Disney Experience, redeem Disney Genie+ selections and individual Lightning Lane purchases, and more.

You are also welcome to buy a new MagicBand when you arrive at the Walt Disney World Resort, and I highly recommend checking out MagicBand+ options. If you are staying at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel, you can purchase one in advance at special pre-arrival prices by visiting My MagicBands and Cards. You are also welcome to request a Key to the World card at the Front Desk at your Disney Resort hotel. If you decide to use Disney MagicMobile service, remember you can use the My Disney Experience mobile app to unlock your Guest room door. If you are not staying at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel, you also have the option of requesting physical tickets at the Disney Ticket Center at Disney Springs or ticket windows located at the entrance of all theme parks. You can use MagicBands, Key to the World cards, and Disney MagicMobile interchangeably, depending on what is most convenient for you.

I hope this information is helpful, Deborah. Come back to visit us if you have additional questions, and have an unforgettable visit to the Walt Disney World Resort!

    Best magical wishes,
    Thiana
