Hello there, Neil!
With a magical Disneyland Resort getaway just a few days away, you must already be starting to feel the swirl of the pixie dust as you put the finishing touches on your planning. Before you set off on your adventure, let's take a look at your question to ensure a smooth arrival through those Main Entrance Gates!
Happy to report that theme park tickets are not officially assigned until the Guest uses them to scan into Disneyland Park or California Adventure Park for the very first time. You do not need to make any changes ahead of time to transfer or change the name on your ticket. When you approach the gate, your wife will either tap her MagicBand+ or scan in with the ticket barcode from your phone (or her phone if she's linked it to her Disneyland app as well). At that time, the
updated turnstiles will perform a bit of magic, and she will be asked to snap a selfie. This is when the ticket officially gets assigned to her, as that photo will pop up anytime she scans or taps her ticket. This is a security measure that ensures only that particular Guest is using that particular ticket. If you have any questions or issues at all, visit
Guest Relations and ask a Cast Member—they will be happy to help!
I hope that we've checked that worry off your list and you can just sit back and let yourself enjoy the anticipation of the magic. If you love planning a much as I do, you may want to peek at the
Disney Parks Blog as you make your way to the Happiest Place on Earth, where you will find guides that break down all the
foodie finds for Halloween and what not to miss during the season. Additionally, even some of my planDisney pals have given their expert advice on how to make the most of
one day in the parks, the best
Disneyland Resort dining options, and even an exploration of all the finds in Downtown Disney.
Neil, I hope we have cleared a path for you to the magic and all the memorable moments to come! Wishing you and your wife a truly unforgettable visit.
See ya real soon!
