I purchased my tickets (not park hopper) for 5 for a trip to Disneyland in August. I am trying now to purchase the Lightning Lane MultiPass but it states guests have to be in the park to purchase. Is there a way to purchase prior to our visit?

Welcome back to planDisney, Tammy! I'm thrilled you've got another countdown to the Happiest Place on Earth! One of my family's favorite times of year to visit Disneyland is in August. Many kids are back in school during that time, so the crowds tend to be relatively low, and summer hours and entertainment are usually still going strong. I'm so excited for you to experience the magic!

Thanks for stopping by planDisney to ask this great question about Lightning Lanes, Tammy, and just like zipping past those long lines on popular attractions, let's zip on over to your question.

If you've already purchased your theme park tickets, I'm afraid you cannot add Lightning Lane Multi Pass in advance and will need to purchase them for each person in your party upon entering a theme park on each day of your visit via the Disneyland app. To do this click the "Purchase" button in the green "Lightning Lane Multi Pass" ribbon on the home screen of the app. You can't miss it. Since the passes are subject to limited availability, I would make sure to arrive to the main gate at least 30 minutes before park opening. (This is also just a good idea to make sure you're maximizing your magical day!)

If you're interested in purchasing a Lightning Lane Single Pass for either Radiator Springs Racers in California Adventure or Rise of the Resistance in Disneyland Park, you'll also use the Disneyland app upon entering a theme park. View the Tip Board in the app to check availability, view prices and purchase passes on the day of your visit (subject to availability). I suggest waiting until a return time is after, at least, 11am to take advantage of lower standby wait times on other attractions first thing in the morning.

I hope this information has been helpful in your planning, Tammy. There's so much more I'd love to share, like my go-to spot for a seasonal sweet treat, so please don't hesitate to come back again and ask me anything! I'm always happy to chat about Disneyland.

Tammy, I sincerely wish you the most magical visit.

Hello from the Pacific Northwest! I'm McCayla, a wife and mom dreaming of adventure in the great wide somewhere, yet also completely content watching Toy Story from the couch. My love of Disneyland began as a little girl on Peter Pan's Flight and only grows with each visit. But even when I'm not physically at the Happiest Place on Earth, I truly feel that same joy when I can help others (YOU!) experience the magic of Disneyland Resort too.
