Hi there, Tim!
Welcome to planDisney. You are just a few days from your visit to the Happiest Place on Earth, so let's rub that lamp get the Genie on board so it's a smooth magic carpet ride through the parks!
The
Disney Genie planning tool is just like having a planDisney pal in your pocket guiding you through your park day. Essentially, you'll let Genie know your top priorities when it comes to attractions, entertainment, and dining experiences, and he will pop out an ideal itinerary for you based on those selections. The best part is that the itinerary will continue to update live while you are in the parks as attraction wait times ebb and flow. To start, open up the Disneyland app and scroll down to the section that says "Upcoming Plans". Looking in my app this morning, this is located just under the "Lightning Lane Premier Pass" section. Tap where you see "My Day" and this is where your planning will begin!
First, tap "Change Day" to select your specific park day and then tap the "Get Started Now" button. You will see the option to select the Guests you are planning for, and then you will be off and running. Genie will automatically pull up the options for the park you are holding reservations for that day. Scroll through the full list and select any attractions, entertainment, and dining that interest you. I would recommend limiting your selections to 3-4 per category. It's tempting to select everything, but to set yourself up for success, Genie works best when he can prioritize your absolute must-dos. Next, Genie will ask you to choose some interests from specific characters to experiences to dining preferences. Just one last step - you can also have Genie take into account height requirements and accessibility needs if you are traveling with Mouseketeers who have specific needs in either area. From here, tap that "View My Day" button and away you go!
Once you scan into the park, Genie will present a custom itinerary catered to your preferences. The best part is that you can make and modify your selections at any time before and during your park day to personalize the magic even further.
If you haven't already, you may consider adding
Lightning Lane Multi Pass to your tickets. This allows you to access Lightning Lanes for select attractions in lieu of standing in the regular queue and helps to maximize your time in the parks. Additionally, it includes unlimited downloads of all the
Disney PhotoPass photos you take that day with any PhotoPass photographers - this is one of my favorite features! It truly lets you capture the magic! One thing to note is that
Radiator Springs Racers in California Adventure and
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance in Disneyland Park are two very popular rides that are not included in the Multi Pass. Instead, you can purchase a
Lightning Lane Single Pass to skip the standby queue for these attractions.
I know that was a lot to take in, Tim! If you have any follow up questions, feel free to reach back out to us here at

Magic awaits!
