As a fellow thrill-seeker, I think you're making a great choice by visiting Disney's Hollywood Studios on your upcoming visit. Not only will you be able to explore the planet of Batuu and set off on exciting adventures in a galaxy far, far away, but you'll also find plenty of other attractions to get your heart pumping. Plus, the park has lots of Genie+ Lightning Lane choices, so I have a feeling that a day of adventure is definitely in your future. Since it sounds like two rides are at the very top of your to-do list, let me share some details about the Disney Genie+ service and a few things you'll want to know when it's time to book.
You can purchase Genie+ right from the My Disney Experience mobile app beginning at midnight on the day of your visit, however, I wouldn't recommend staying up late just to make your purchase at this time. Since we've never seen Disney limit the number of Guests who can purchase Genie+ (although that could change in the future), you'll just want to make your purchase before making your first Lighting Lane selection beginning at 7 AM. Personally, I like to get up and make my purchase on the morning of my visit, so I'm ready to go when the clock strikes seven.
Now, you'll want to note that when it comes to these two rides, you'll only be able to access the Lightning Lane for
Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run with your Genie+ purchase –– Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is an
Individual Lighting Lane selection that requires a separate purchase. If you're staying at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel during your visit, you'll be able to make up to two of these Individual Lighting Lane selections beginning at 7 AM, otherwise, you'll be able to purchase access for Rise of the Resistance once the park opens.
If you're Disney Resort Guest, I recommend purchasing your Individual Lighting Lane for
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance before Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. While both of these rides fill up fast, Rise of the Resistance sells out a little faster, in my experience. The great news, though, is that Individual Lighting Lanes don't follow the 120-minute booking rule –– this means that you can book a time for Rise of the Resistance and turn right around to book Genie+ Lightning Lane access for Smugglers Run. If you're not staying at a Disney Resort during visit, I suggest making a Lightning Lane selection for Smugglers Run at 7 AM, and then try to book Rise of the Resistance as soon as the park opens.
Another great thing to keep in mind is that Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run is one of the few rides at Disney's Hollywood Studios that offers a Single-Rider Line. Since this line is often much shorter than the Standby Line, it's a great way to experience this attraction in an expedited line in the event that Genie+ Lightning Lane access is unavailable. You're even welcome to enter this line if you're traveling with a group –– just keep in mind that you'll likely be separated on the ride itself, so it may not be a great fit for younger kids or groups that want to experience the ride together.
