I purchased our tickets on January 31, 2022 for a planned birthday trip in September. I need to change my planned trip and reservations. Do I have to use the tickets prior to January 31, 2023? What happens with Genie+ and Memory Maker photo package?

Hey Howdy Hey Leslie and welcome to planDisney!

I am sorry to hear that your trip later this month needs to be changed. You've got a friend in me to give you the information you need to get your tickets and extras figured out. Let's get right to it!

The first thing to do is to look at your tickets and check their expiration date. You can do this by logging into your My Disney Experience account and then going to the "My Plans, Reservations and Tickets" section. Look for the heading "Tickets, Passes & Memory Maker" which you will click on. There you should see all of your tickets linked to your account and the members they are linked with. You should see a listed expiration date as well for your tickets. If you know when you wanted to reschedule your trip, click on the blue "Change Ticket" link.

After you click on the "Change Ticket" link, you should get a screen with several options to change your ticket. If the date you wanted to change to is outside of the expiration date, this might warrant a call over to Disney so a Cast Member can help you through this next part.

In most cases, Disney will honor what you paid for your ticket and apply it to the cost of a new ticket with a new expiration date. The Cast Member will also walk you through on what will happen to your Genie+. Currently, Genie+ is no longer offered in advance, and with the potential of needing a new ticket, I am not sure if they will be able to apply what you paid to a new ticket only or if you would be able to get Genie+ still. Prices for tickets are variable throughout the year and the day of the week, so the extra you paid for Genie+ might take care of most if not all of the difference for your new tickets.

When it comes to Memory Maker, you have a lot more leeway with this product. Memory Maker will not expire or be activated until you use it to download any pictures. From that point, you will have 30 days of access to all of your pictures after the first download. So you should be set even if your trip is pushed to 2023.

I hope this information helped get an idea of what to expect on rebooking your tickets. If you have any further questions, please feel free to reach out and let us know, we would be happy to help!

    Have a Magical Day,
