Hi Mandi! Thanks for bringing your question to planDisney.
Disney Parks are committed to making your experience as accessible as possible. As a family that has traveled with loved ones who require services, we've found it to be an incredibly inclusive destination, eliminating many challenges we face in everyday life. I hope your upcoming visit is just as smooth!
One of the services available to qualifying Guests is the
Disability Access Service (DAS). If you have multiple members of your party who might qualify, they will need to each go through their own process to register, including separate video chats. For each chat, the qualifying Guest must be present. However, Disneyland Resort also currently offers an in-person option, which might be more convenient, considering the number in your group. Many Guests take advantage of this option. You'll simply visit the Accessibility Services Kiosk located in the Esplanade between the two parks to speak with a Cast Member.
Currently, once you've registered, Guests will enter the parks and select a return time for an attraction that offers DAS. While you're waiting to redeem, you can relax, enjoy Entertainment, shop for a fun souvenir, or grab a tasty snack. My go-to snack is always a DOLE Whip from The Tropical Hideaway in Adventureland at Disneyland Park. Try the Trio of Baos for a more substantial meal. When it's time to redeem your DAS selection, head over to the Attraction, and be aware that the qualifying Guest must be with the party. After you've enjoyed the Attraction, you can book another return time. Remember that Cast Members are always ready to assist if you need additional help and guidance.
At this time, DAS is intended for Guests with autism or similar disabilities who may have difficulty waiting in a traditional queue. There are
additional services available that might also be helpful. For example, when visiting with my uncle, we have made use of the services provided for blind and low vision Guests. We've also taken a look at the
Sensory Experience Details guide, which helped us avoid certain Attractions and Entertainment that would be over-stimulating. We've found these resources to be really helpful when selecting our next fun activity! You might want to check it out. That way, when you arrive, you can focus on the fun.
I hope you have the best time! For a little bit of extra seasonal excitement, check out the
Lunar New Year, which is celebrated in Disney California Adventure Park. Ring in the Year of the Horse with special Asian cuisine, Character appearances, decor, and Entertainment. That would be my first stop!
Happy New Year!
