I have purchased tickets for our family of 10 and I will be in charge of all the tickets. If on separate days we split up and do different parks, how do I ensure my youngest son can be scanned in if I'm not with him? Would a card be easier? Thanks

Hey Howdy Hey Derek and welcome to planDisney!

One thing is for sure, trips to the Walt Disney World Resort are perfect for the whole family and I am happy to hear you will have many members with you on your upcoming holiday. Accessing the parks can vary from member to member as there are several ways to enter the parks and access your ticket information. Let's go over some options you have for you during your upcoming vacation.

When it comes to accessing the Magic during your upcoming holiday, you will have three options: MagicBands, MagicMobile Service or Magic Keycards. MagicBands do come with an added cost as you do have to purchase one for anyone that wants one. MagicMobile passes and keycards are both available at no extra cost. MagicMobile passes can be set up through your My Disney Experience app and can be made for all profiles you manage. Keycards can be picked up as you check in on your arrival day. You can use these interchangeably as well during your trip going from whichever is easier to access.

When you tap into the parks, all members will have to tap their form of entry on the touchpoints as well as scan their fingerprint which is connected to the ticket. If your son is old enough to do this on his own, the method of entry is up to you. Either a MagicBand or a keycard will be the best way for him to access his ticket. With our girls, it was not until around age 7 or 8 that they were able to do this consistently most likely due to their small fingers. In those cases, my wife or I were the ones who had to scan ours for their ticket access. The big question would be if your son was able to scan his fingerprint on his own or not. If he is, you should not have much of an issue. If not, it typically is just one extra step the Cast Members would have to change things at the front gate when you tap in.

I'm sorry I cannot give you a definitive answer on this one, there are a few variables that would impact the easiest route. The best part is that no matter which way you choose, this should be easily amendable at the front gate if need be. If you have any other questions, please let us know and we will do our best to help you out!
