Kathleen from CA Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

I purchased tickets for a day and then had to cancel our reservation. Now when I try to reserve another date, I only see dates that were the same price as the tickets I bought available. Is there a way to book another day and pay the difference?

Hi Kathleen! Welcome to planDisney. We love helping Guests get the most magic out of their trips to the Happiest Place on Earth, so let's take a look at your question!

Since the return to the magic, a lot of Guests are still getting used to the new theme park reservation system as well as the tiered ticket pricing. You came to the right place with your question, and I'm happy to walk you through it! When you purchase a single-day ticket, whether it's a One Park Per Day or a Park Hopper, the pricing is determined by the day of the week and time of year and will fall into a certain tier. Typically, the higher the tier the fewer the block-out dates and vice versa. There are six tiers where Tier 6 has no block-out dates and Tier 1 has the most. As you have discovered, if you are hoping to make a reservation for a day that is in a higher tier, the system currently won't let you move forward. The good news is that you can upgrade! At this time, upgrades need to be done in person at the Main Entrance Ticket Booths. Keep in mind that if you are hoping to visit the parks on the day you are upgrading, you will need to ensure that there are theme park reservations available same day. The theme park reservation calendar shows live availability, so give it a peek before you head on over. You are always welcome to call and speak to the Cast Members in Guest Services ahead of time as well if you have specific questions about your situation. They are always happy to spread some pixie dust!!

I have a few dates to keep in mind when you are starting to think about your next visit! Halloween Time has descended and the happy haunts will be out to play throughout the Disneyland Resort from now until October 31st! If the holly jolly of the holidays is more your style, plan a visit between November 11th and January 8th to sail through "it's a small world" Holiday or eat and sip your way through Disney Festival of the Holidays! While you're deciding, give a listen to the planDisney Podcast, particularly Episode 3 where my fellow panelists are giving out all the insider tips and tricks for the holiday season!

Kathleen, please come back to see us here at planDisney if you have any more questions. I hope you have a magical visit filled with lots of memory-making!

    Never stop dreaming,
    Tara
