Hi Ken,
Welcome to planDisney!
There are a few options when it comes to your son accessing his Theme Park tickets. The option you mentioned is if he goes to a ticket window to get a physical Theme Park ticket. This is always an option for those who want to have a tangible Theme Park ticket. Since you purchased the ticket for your son and won’t be in attendance this trip, I understand this might not be the best option.
Walt Disney World Resort makes it very simple to keep your Theme Park ticket digitally on the
My Disney Experience mobile app, so instead of the first option I suggest you set up an account for your son. He will be able to access his ticket via his mobile device as well as other Walt Disney World Resort information.
Once the My Disney Experience mobile app is set up, you can link your son’s ticket by entering the confirmation number. From the home screen, click the three lines in the lower right-hand corner. Then scroll to the bottom and click “Link to Account”, select “Link Tickets or Passes”, and under “Ticket or Pass”, you will be able to add the confirmation number from the email. I think this will be best option for your son as he gets ready for the World’s Most Magical Celebration!
Currently the Walt Disney World Resort is requiring both valid Theme Park Admission coupled with a
Disney Park Pass reservation for entry into
Magic Kingdom Park,
EPCOT,
Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and
Disney’s Animal Kingdom. To do this, start at the home screen in the My Disney Experience mobile app, select the “+” symbol in the bar at the bottom (two buttons to the right of the “home” button). Next, select “Make a Park Reservation” then select “Theme Park Tickets” this will take you to the Theme Park Reservation page where you can select your Disney Park Pass reservations. Don't forget to check the
Theme Park Reservation calendar to see what Theme Parks are available!
If your son has an iPhone or Apple Watch, he can also add his ticket to his Apple Wallet via
Disney MagicMobile Service. Back in the My Disney Experience mobile app home screen, click the three lines in the lower right-hand corner. From there, select the square titled “Disney MagicMobile”. Then you will be taken to “Your Passes” where you can change the style and look of the Disney MagicMobile pass. Next, select the “plus” button in the upper right-hand corner. There you will see a button to add the Disney MagicMobile pass to your digital wallet.
I hope this “Bit By Bryanna” is helpful as your son prepares for his upcoming trip to the Walt Disney World Resort. Please feel free to reach out with any other
planning or vacation questions, I am always happy to help!
The Magic Is Calling,
Bryanna
