    When we purchased our package for our week-long stay at a Disney hotel were told we would have the Fastpasses. Will these be upgraded to the Genie Plus?

    Hello Christopher!

    Welcome to planDisney! I know our planDisney Panelists from the UK cannot wait to "come home" to the Walt Disney World Resort. I hope you are even half as excited as they are!

    Christopher, Disney’s FastPass+ program was a complimentary service that was available to all Guests, including those staying at non-Disney resorts, those just visiting for one day or several weeks. Everyone that entered the theme parks was able to use FastPass+. While you did have FastPass+, that was because everyone had it, not because you purchased it with your vacation package.

    Disney’s Genie Service is complimentary and you can use it to plan your park day around your favorite attractions, meal times, and wait times! Genie will tailor a plan to your preferences that takes into account wait times, walking distance, even attraction closures for bad weather! If you would like to use Disney Genie+ to access the Lightning Lane of select attractions, this is an optional add-on that does come with a cost. Since FastPass+ was not a paid part of resort reservations, or theme park tickets, but just a free service, Genie+ would not be added to your package. You can purchase it if you’d like, but you certainly don't have to. Every attraction still offers either a traditional stand-by queue or in the case of Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, a virtual queue. So you can purchase Genie+ if you want to, but know you can still have an amazing time in the theme parks without it. You may even consider purchasing it for a day or two at the beginning of your trip to see if you like it, and if you feel wait times aren’t bad and you don’t need it, you could skip it for the remainder of your trip. It’s customizable and totally up to you!
