    Lydia from CA Asked

Hi, I purchased a one day ticket using a gift card for December. I plan to get the Magic Key pass next month but wondered if I cancel the reservation, if the credit can be used for part of the monthly payment ( I plan on making a large down payment). Thxs!

    Hi Lydia,

Thanks for coming to see us here at planDisney with your question.

Ready to join the Disneyland Resort Magic Key Program? It sure sounds like you're ready to pick up your Magic Key to enjoy the Disneyland Resort theme parks and make memories you'll cherish.

It also sounds like you previously purchased a Disneyland Resort theme park ticket that you want to upgrade to a Magic Key pass, and that you want to take advantage of the monthly payment plan that's an option for California Residents.

It's helpful to know that there are some types of theme park tickets that are not eligible to be upgraded to a Magic key pass, such as California Resident promotional tickets, special event tickets, and tickets that are fully used or partially used and expired.

The good news to share is that if your theme park ticket is unused and not expired and if it's eligible to be upgraded (and it sounds like that's the case for you), then you can upgrade your theme park ticket to a Magic Key pass. There's more good news. As a California Resident, you can upgrade your theme park ticket to a Magic Key pass and choose the monthly payment option.

Lydia, I know you mention that you plan to make a large down payment for your Magic Key pass. At this time, for California Residents purchasing a Magic Key pass, a $179 down payment is the only amount permitted for a down payment.

Here's wishing you lots of Disney magic with all your visits to the Disneyland Resort!

Meet the Panelist: Jerry, Pennsylvania

The playful and creative optimism of all things Disney has enthralled me since I was a kid. I loved watching "The Wonderful World of Disney" on Sunday nights, seeing all the live-action and animated classics in theaters, and — of course — visiting "The Most Magical Place on Earth" for the first time 45 years ago. These days, the big kid in me still loves to play Disney. As a long-time Disney destinations vacationer, I'm looking forward to helping you play Disney starting here at planDisney!
